11.4c — MC Practice 3 + Written-Response Drill
The last practice before exam eve: a mixed set under compressed time, then a timed written-response block with your PPR — the same 60-minute pairing the real exam gives you, in miniature. Today you rehearse STAMINA, not just facts.
15 questions in 13 minutes. Mixed, all ten families, compressed time. Answer every question — there is no penalty for guessing, and a blank scores like a wrong one. When the timer stops, press Grade this set for your scorecard and the family error table.
1. A packet arrives at a router. The destination computer is on a different network. What does the router do with the packet?CSN-1
2. The list holds five elements. The program removes elements while iterating. What does the loop display?AAP-2
aList ← [5, 10, 15, 20, 25]
i ← 1
REPEAT UNTIL (i > LENGTH(aList))
{
DISPLAY(aList[i])
REMOVE(aList, i)
}3. A student writes the same 12-line block of code in four different places. Which change best improves the program's design, and why?AAP-3
4. Which of the following loops never finishes?AAP-2
5. What is displayed?AAP-2
x ← 5
y ← 3
IF (x > 4 AND y > 4)
{
DISPLAY("A")
}
ELSE
{
DISPLAY("B")
}6. A procedure assigns a value to a variable named total. A different procedure, elsewhere in the program, also uses a variable named total. Both procedures work correctly and do not interfere. What best explains this?AAP-1
7. Two students are paired on a programming project. Which activity is permitted under the College Board's collaboration rules?CRD-1
8. A program is written to compute a class average. A student tests it with the list [90, 80, 70] and gets 80, which is correct. The student declares the program finished. Which is the most significant weakness in this testing approach?CRD-2
9. A hiring algorithm is trained on ten years of a company's past hiring decisions. It learns to favor candidates resembling those hired historically. Which concern does this best illustrate?IOC-1
10. A student downloads a copyrighted song and uses it as background music in a video posted publicly. Which statement is most accurate?IOC-1
11. A hospital sends patient records between two buildings over the public internet. Which measure most directly protects the records from being read if intercepted in transit?IOC-1
12. Automation replaces many routine jobs in a factory while creating new roles for technicians who maintain the machines. Which statement best characterizes the effects of this change?IOC-1
13. A microphone records a singer. Before the sound can be stored or processed by a computer, what must happen?DAT-1
14. A scatterplot of two variables shows points clustered closely along an upward-sloping line. What can be concluded?DAT-2
15. A website sends its public key to a visitor's browser, which uses it to encrypt a message that only the website can decrypt. What property of public-key encryption makes this work?CSN-2

Tighter than real: 13 minutes for 15 questions, where the exam gives you 120 for 70. That 50-second target deliberately overtrains pass-1 speed — if you can bubble at this pace here, May 14 will feel slow. The three-pass method is REQUIRED, not optional (bubbling discipline now, so it is reflex on exam day).
Score → error table v3, cumulative across sets 1–3. Your REAL study plan for the weekend comes from this table, not from your feelings about the exam.
Timed, PPR in hand, phone in bag: 4 prompts in 25 minutes (exam gives 60 for 4 with more writing — we compress to build the muscle):
- MCQ-style: foreign code excerpt — describe input, behavior, output (reading pseudocode under time, not a WR prompt — 11.3 drill two)
- WR2a-style: your algorithm, from your PPR
- WR2b-style: your difficulty + specific fix
- WR2c-style: your list's role in the program
Trade and grade with the claim-evidence-because rubric (11.3): does every answer name its evidence? Does anyone's WR2b name all three (bug, cause, fix)? Score each other like the College Board would — generous grading in practice is mean in May.
Socratic: Stamina, Not Just Facts
- Where did your accuracy drop off in the compressed set — and was that a knowledge gap or an attention gap?
- You ran the written block straight after the multiple choice, the way the exam does. What does your fourth prompt look like compared to your first?
- You named your top three leaks for tomorrow. Which leak is a fact you can memorise tonight, and which is one you have to slow down for?
Checkpoint — before moving on, you must be able to:
- Run pass-1 speed under 60 seconds per question
- Complete 4 WR prompts inside 25 minutes with evidence
- Show error tables v1–v3 and name your two weak families
- Write your weekend plan from the table, not the vibes
